PCT Session One Reflection

Had my first PCT session today and I really enjoyed it. We looked at the six new standards for the teaching profession and what they meant in practice. Details are in my PCT book.

We also looked at the Q-matrix, which when we used ourselves we found produced some interesting questions we otherwise wouldn't have uncovered.

To deepen my reading lessons with the children I am going to use the questioning cards. Not only are they developing their understanding of questioning but they are also owning the lesson by being the ones that ask the questions instead of me.

This is also going to be a great tool to teach the children the difference between a question and a statement. Could use at writing time when we are sharing our stories.

Inquiry - use the questions the children come up with to plan the lessons.

I need to do more explicit teaching about independence rather than telling the children to go and 'sort it out'
practice - talk about it - practice - talk about it - practice - talk about it
